Enabling A Database Quota To Stop Mail From Sending

In Notes Release R5 you have the ability to stop the delivery of mail to mail
files that are over their quota.

You can set size limits (quotas) for individual databases on a server to
prevent unchecked growth of databases. When you set a quota for a database,
somebody attempting to open a database that has exceeded its quota sees the
message: "Cannot allocate database object - database would exceed its disk
quota." To set database size quotas on a server, you must be listed as an
administrator in the Server document.
Users can sometimes add documents to a database that has reached its size limit
if there is unused space within the database. You can also set a warning
threshold that displays the following message in the Miscellaneous Events view
of the Notes Log when the size of the database reaches the threshold: "Warning,
database has exceeded its size warning threshold." This does not affect users
accessing and working with the database, however. After this message appears in
the Notes Log, notify the managers of databases that generate these messages so
that unnecessary documents can be removed or databases can be moved to another
server.
Note: If you set database quotas on mail files, the Router can deliver mail to
them, and users can update existing mail views, even if the mail files have
exceeded their quotas. The quota is enforced with respect to all other means of
increasing size. For example, if a mail file has reached its quota, users can't
manually add documents or views to it.
To enable the 'Obey Database Quotas during Message Delivery' feature in Notes
R5, do the following:
1. Open the Domino Directory (Name and Address Book / NAB).
2. Select Servers, Configurations, Router/SMTP tab, Restrictions and Controls
tab, Restrictions tab.
3. Enable the option, 'Obey Database Quotas during Message Delivery'.
