Protect The Workings Of Your Domino Web Site From Unwelcome Snoopers

If you want to protect the workings of your Domino web site from unwelcome snoopers, create a blank $$ViewTemplateDefault which does NOT contain $$ViewBody field. Perhaps some text like "oh no you don't" would be appropriate on the page. Views for Draft documents, Keywords, Lookups, HTML or file attachments are all too often left available for other Domino programmers to explore. Of course you then need to add $$ViewTemplate for 'viewname' forms for each view that should be seen by the public - which you may find too much effort depending on the complexity and sensitivity of your site. If you like, you could always go a step further and add the $$ViewBody field back into $$ViewTemplateDefault, but use Hide-When formula to limit who may actually see it by way of a back door. This often comes in handy for when you're building or modifying the site. Finally, you can use a product like DK.Stats (http://www.domi-know.com) to actually track failed attempts.
