Did you ever have the need to compact a group of databases (like mail files) in off hours to recoup unused white space, and not impact the production environment? Try this. It worked like a champ for us newbies.

By doing this, we conserved a significant amount of disk space on our two mail servers.
Server 1 - 249 mail files - saved 1.0Gb
Server 2 - 483 mail files - saved 3.8Gb
Here is how.
From the Admin Client create a program document.
1. Click the "Configuration" tab
2. Open the "Server" folder
3. Click on the "Programs" sub-folder
4. Click "Add Program"
5. Fill in the blanks
A sample Compact in place with file size reduction for all mail files is below.
BASIC TAB
Program Name: Compact
Command Line: -B mail
Server to run on: ACME/NORTHEAST/US
Comments: Brief description
SCHEDULE TAB
Enabled/Disabled: Enabled
Run at times: 04:00 PM each day
Repeat interval of: 0 minutes
Days of week: SAT
