This tip will help in the removal/renaming of Notes databases that have been file-locked by the system.

Code

A good scenario for this tip would be the renaming of a bad mail.box without restarting the server. You have issued the quit to the router task and mail.box still contains mail. When you attempt to rename the file via NT, the error "Access Denied - File is in use" pops up. You have issued a drop all and flushed the cache, but the file will not release. Now, open the database ACL and remove all entries except for yourself(Manager). Issue a drop all on the system. The file should now be released and be free to rename. Now restart the router process and a new mail.box will be created automatically. You can then open the bad mail.box and transfer the mail to the new mail.box.
