Discover the EXACT Notes version your client is running:
May be used for information or installation upgrades.

Thip tip refers to "Incremental" versions (i.e. 5.0.1, 5.0.4a) and NOT major versions which can be determined via the @Version command and will show 166 for ALL 5.x versions.

In order to determine your clients version do the following: 1. Install the latest build on a test machine (or a production if you want the latest build).
2. check the "NNOTES.DLL" file date, i.e. 5.0.8 is "18 June 2001", for those of you who recognize that date, this is the same date from the "Help --> About" box.
3. From the login script, use any administrative tools to verify if the user is using t

he latest version, such as: Wise or other Batch tools. I used Wise Installer to make some GREAT stuff, if this tip will be a winner, I will post an executable that will provide that functionality for all of you Notes wizards out there.
4. In order to know where Notes client is installed check (with those tools) in the following registry key:
"HKLMSoftwareLotusNotes5.0Path"

Using the above with some additional help from external tools you will be able to make smooth installations... I myself have built a very nice tool, based on those factors, to automate installation for organizations, while even sending a "Complete" / "Fail" email at the end of each installation with a small "mailsend" utility.
