Using Domino Mail Rules and Passwords, you can control how e-mail is sent to a large number of recipients and protect inboxes from unwanted messages.

1. Create a Group named, e.g., "Mail Password" and add your own name to the member list.
2. In the Internet address field, put the password followed by your domain, e.g., 987654@yourdomain.net
3. Save the group document.
4. Create a Domino Mail Rule in the Configuration document with this content.
5. If "To or cc" is All Company and "bcc" is not 987654@yourdomain.net, don't accept the message.

MEMBER FEEDBACK TO THIS TIP

It is good to make a rule on this, but is there any way to send an e-mail to an entire company without creating a group?

No, there's no way an end user can send an e-mail to an entire company if you have not created a group for it. I modified my rule to block e-mails when the number of recipients is more than "N". This is what most companies need to do in order to block these e-mails from people without authorization. (In those cases, the password is entered into in the bcc field.)

Could you explain to me how exactly this controls how e-mail is sent to a large number of recipients? The tip is not very clear (at least, not to me).

To control who can send to large groups, create a group (or use an existing group). Right-click on the group document, go to Properties, security (tab with the key). Deselect "All Readers and above", then select the users authorized to use it. You can pick from the ACL or the NAB.

Theoretically users could have groups in their personal address books and use them to address a large number of people at once.
