Effective JS replaceString() function

This tip describes how to use JavaScript in the replace string function.

I saw this tip on SearchDomino Hall Of Fame and wondered why the author didn't utilize effective features of Javascript: the replace method. Please see the code below; it works well on IE 4, Netscape 4 and above.

function replaceString
(strSource, strFind, strReplace,
caseInsensitive){
 if (caseInsensitive) re = "/"
+ strFind + "/g";
 else re = "/" + strFind + "/gi";
 return strSource.replace
(eval(re), strReplace);
}
