In the Rich Text create a URL Hotspot using the following syntax (omit the single quotes): 'file://localhost/<drive>/<path_replace_backslash_by_slash>/<file name.extension>' E.g. use 'file://localhost/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/User1/Projects/Project% 20Overview.xls' to link to 'C:\Documents and Settings\User1\Projects\Project Overview.xls' This works for me with Win2000prof + R5.0.2c + IE5, although usability and convenience seem to differ considerably depending on the kind of application associated with the file. Didn't validate other OS, (mapped) network drives / hosts and Netscape browser so your feedback whether this really is a useful tip is very appreciated. Have fun!
