Set Domino Server Clock Without Shutting Down Server (R4.x)

Set Domino Server Clock Without Shutting Down Server (R4.x)

Many administrators shut down Domino Server to get the Domino clock to synchronise with the OS clock. This can be done via the Notes client without shutting down server.

Clock synchronisation is a common problem with Notes R4.x -- the Notes server clock never keeps the same time as the OS, and usually drifts by a few minutes each month. Some administrators disable daylight savings, and prefer to set the Domino server clock manually.

One way to set the clock is to shut down and restart the Notes Server. This is a clumsy technique as it reduces uptime and often requires admins to do this out of operating hours.

Instead of shutting down the server, you can set the server clock as follows:
1) Open the Notes Client on the server
2) Choose file->Mobile->Edit current time/phone
3) Type in the correct time
4) Click OK to set the new time

The server clock will immediately be set to this new time.
