Track Down Those Pesky Offset Values

Using NotesPeek, you can find the value of the offset value for any rich text
field to display pictures embedded in those fields on the web
Download NotesPeek from lotus. When you run NotesPeek, there will be a two
paned window. The left pane lists you servers, databases, etc. The right pane
lists the details about anything you select on the left. Open up the servers
twistie and choose the server your database is on. You will need to enter your
password. Now find your database on that server and click on its twistie. Now
go down to the documents twistie and open that up. Now find the document that
has the picture embedded in a rich text field and open up its twistie. scroll
down until you see the name of the rich text field you are interested in. Open
its twistie. Now scroll until you see an entry labeled "Bitmap header" and
click on it. You will see a bunch of info in the right pane. The line of
interest is the first line, however. It will look something like this:

record-type BitmapHeader ; record #7, offset 0x142

This lists the offset value you need to use to access the picture stored in
this field from the web. The URL to that picture would look something like this:

the 0.142 is the offset value we found in the procedure above.

remember that if you change the design ofthe form, this offset value will
change. make sure you update you offset values.
