Web view pop-up TextHelp

Here is a technique to allow your Web users to see pop-up text when placing their mouse over a field that is a link in a Web view. You can include help text for the field (example 1) or include the contents of another field (example 2), if that field is wordy and you are not displaying its contents to conserve space in your view.

Example 1 : Pop-Up Web Help Text

REM "ProductName (a text field) is the field in your view that is
link-enabled";
REM;
LinkFieldName := ProductName;
REM;
REM "Place your server name and view name between quotes";
REM;
YourServerName := "Your Server Name";
YourViewName := "Your view name";
DatabaseName := @Subset(@DbName;-1);
REM;
REM "Place the help text between double quotes";
REM;
HoverText := "Click here to view more information about the "
+ ProductName + " product.";
REM;
REM "HTML that creates the link and displays the hover text";
REM;
"[<A HREF= http://" + YourServerName + "/" +
DatabaseName + "/" + YourViewName + "/" + @Text(@DocumentUniqueID)
+ "?OpenDocument Title = " + HoverText + ">" +  LinkFieldName
+ "</a>]"
REM;

END CODE

Example 2 : Pop-Up Web Text (Display another Field's Contents)

LinkFieldName := ProductName;
YourServerName := "Your Server Name";
YourViewName := "Your view name";
DatabaseName := @Subset(@DbName;-1);
REM;
REM " *Purpose* is a text field on the form that will be displayed
from the view.";
REM;
REM "Place the (text) field name between double quotes that are
surrounded by single quotes - this is necessary so that the entire
contents of your text field (text and blanks between words) is visible
in the pop-up help. Not including the quotes will cause only the first
word in your text field to display in the pop-up help.";
REM;
HoverText := '"' + Purpose + '"';
REM;
REM "HTML that creates the link and displays the hover text";
REM;
"[<A HREF= http://" + YourServerName + "/" +
DatabaseName + "/" + YourViewName + "/" + @Text(@DocumentUniqueID) +
"?OpenDocument Title = " + HoverText + ">" +  LinkFieldName
+ "</a>]"
REM;
