3 strike filter

DSAPI (the beast) question:

I want to write a 3x strike DSAPI filter , but still want Domino to handle the password checking. Is this possible? (server : 5.0.6)

I saw the authentication filter runs 3x if you log in using the correct password, but not if it's incorrect. What is the difference?

If you could refer me to a understandable source for DSAPI it would also be appreciated.

I recently came across a product that may be just what you are looking for. If this fits your needs, it is almost always cheaper to buy something that someone else wrote, versus writing it yourself. The product is called "D.O.D. Authentication Lock-out System" from Innovative Ideas Unlimited in Wakefield, MA. For more information, click here, then click Products, then scroll to the bottom of the product list.

Please let me know how you like this product and what its features/limitation are. Then I can use this information when other people ask about it.
