Regarding the question posed 01/23/2001 regarding backup products that support transaction logging ... Michael Lazar responded that Veritas NetBackup was also a solution. According to Lotus Technote # 177110 and also according to a conversation I just had with Lotus Technical support, the only product "certified" by Lotus is Tivoli Data Protect for Domino. Has Veritas been certified in the last couple of weeks? If not, I do not understand Michael's response. Doesn't this negate the value of "certifying" third party products as being tested and proven to work with Domino?
Certified means that if there is a problem with your Domino server, and it is caused by the 3rd party software, then Lotus Support will assist you in the problem. Tivoli is the only certified product for trans logging backups. Perhaps I misread your initial inquiry, but I thought that you were looking for products that are capable of backing up Domino trans logs. If that is true, then you can also look to Veritas NetBackup or CommVault's Galaxy product. If you require a certified product, then you must use Tivoli.
