Can you use LotusScript to read a text file attached to a Notes doc?

A user wants to know if it's possible for LotusScript to read an attachment in a Notes document without first detaching it. Find out our expert's response here.

Can a LotusScript agent read a text file that is attached to a Lotus Notes document -- without first removing the attachment?
I'm not aware of any way to read an attached file from LotusScript. However, I would not hesitate to detach it to the file system, read it and then delete it. You can use the system temporary directory, or just put it in your Lotus Notes data directory.
