We are trying to test the Transactional Login in R5. We enabled it on one of the test servers through Server Document with default options and gave 500Mb max log space. We opened a database having 1gb size, opened a couple of documents in full-text index and then started compact task. In between, we crashed the server to test the functionality of Transactional Logging. On restart, the server gave messages related to Transactional Login check etc. However, we could not find any log file created on the server. How do we use this feature practically?
It sounds like you already did set it up. You cannot look at trans logs. In addition, compacting ruins the reference point for transactional logs. There are only a few switches available for compact on translogged databases. Trans logs are explained fairly well in the Admin Help DB, and there are some excellent articles in the back issues of IRIS Today on notes.net. I would start there if you need to get up to speed.
