Creating a data connection between WebSphere and Domino R5.0.10

How do I go about creating a data connection between WebSphere (running under NT) (recent versions) and Domino R5.0.10 (running on an iSeries box)? I want to have data from a Domino/Notes database to be synchronized with a WebSphere application. Currently, I export the file to a shared folder on the iSeries box and then WS FTP transfers the file to the WebSphere server where it is imported in to the WebSphere application. I would like to make the transfer of data as seamless and secure as possible.
It depends on what database your WebSphere application uses. If it's "True Blue" then you're probably dealing with DB2, especially since you?re running the application on the iSeries (AS400) platform. It also depends on which app server is pushing/pulling the data. If it's WebSphere then you need to use the Domino Java classes to talk with the appropriate NSF. If it's Domino then you could use DECS for realtime, LEI for batch, and/or LC LSX for communicating with the RDBMS.
