Q

Dealing with delinquent documents

I have created a LotusScript agent that uses a view that identifies documents that are delinquent a certain number of days and sends the tech support people a newsletter listing the documents that have not been attended to. In the view, I would like to obtain the number of days (the delinquency tolerance) from the profile document using GetProfileField and then adjust @Today with that number to obtain a "target date." Then I want to compare a date in the document to that "target date" to see if it is delinquent. Later, the agent will do a collection on the delinquent items in the view and send out the newsletter.

Can this be done? I don't want "viewing," I want to access the view with a Script agent. Thanks for your help.
There is enough capability in the DateTime class to do what you need to do. You just need a collection to dump into a newsletter, and there are many ways to do it (more than these two).

  1. Define a view with the delinquent criteria in the selection formula (you could do that dynamically in the back end with R6 or it could be a static view). Pull a NotesDocumentCollection out of the view, then create the newsletter.

  2. You could also look at each document, test it using DateTime methods and add the document to a NotesViewEntryCollection and call StampAll to tag the docs. You would get a doccollection based on that and generate the newsletter.
Hope this helps!!
