Detaching a file on XP takes a long time

We are at Rev 4.67 and mostly using Windows 98. But we recently installed XP on six IBMs for our artists. Our problem is, when they detach a file, it takes forever. Yet they can go to a 98 machine and it opens very quickly. We are on a Novell Network, running Notes on an NT server. We use IPE not TCP/IP. Do have any suggestions?
You're not going to like this suggestion, but it's time to get into the 21st century. XP isn't very compatible with non TCP/IP protocols. Domino also runs far more efficiently using IP. Domino 6 now does not install the other protocols unless you specify that they should be installed. I would look to upgrade your entire infrastructure. It sounds as if you are long overdue.
