Enable server to support sending mail

I am very new to the administration topic & I have the following problem. I have a single DominoServer(R 5.0.8) configured for my office LAN connection. How can I enable this server to support sending internet mail? I have already enabled the SMTP Server, SMTP Listener task in the configuration setting. But still at server console it says "No route found to domain hotmail.com. Check Server, Connection and Domain documents in Name & Address Book.". Anything else has to be supplied.

You need a connection to the Internet. If you have a direct connection, you can specify that in the connection document you have to create for mail being sent to "*.*". If you use a relay host, you can specify that as well in the connection document. You should put the relay host in your configuration document as well. It sounds like you are missing the connection document, but do not forget to setup the Global Domain Document so that your messages have the correct address formatting.
