What is the best Integration product to use for a Domino Server running on AIX and the Enterprise data on an AS400?
We are talking about .txt files that Web clients attach to a form and then submit this form. On this action, I have to detach the file somewhere (within datastore on the AIX) and have an Enterprise integration tool read the file and update a database on the AS400.
Enterprise data in a .txt? Okay, let's see. This one sounds pretty heavy so I'll give you one scenario, but there are many options to consider.
Without knowing all the details I would likely expect you are looking at a programmatic solution. For pure Lotus offerings, the LC LSX and standard LotusScript should be able to handle the data issues for you. You can use standard LotusScript methods to handle the file detaching within your WebQuerySave event. You could then use the Z-Merge File Connector (ships with Domino; look for *file.lcx on your workstation and server) to handle parsing the txt file. The File Connector handles both text and binary data. (You can get details about the File Connector in the LEI Documentation database.) You can then use the DB2 Connector to update the AS400 database. For this you will need DB2 connectivity software installed on the AIX server. If it's not already there I sure your IBM rep can help with this.
