I've just been given a copy of a database, where if I attempt to click on any of the buttons in the database, I receive the following error: "you are not authorized to view this data."
I added myself to the ACL with manager access, and even assigned myself to the same roles as the individual who sent me the database, but I still do not have access.
Am I overlooking something?
Without looking at the design of the buttons and seeing what they are attempting to do, I suspect that the documents that you are attempting to access have some sort of Reader Names field that restricts access to the documents you are attempting to access. Unless you know who is permitted to access the data -- through individual names, database roles or groups -- then you will not be able to access the documents without being a member of one of those categories.
