Q

HTML e-mails showing up without images, or getting Notes to authenticate to a proxy

I'm currently getting frustrated by the new SearchDomino.com HTML Daily News newsletter, so thought I'd ask for help and try to learn something in the process! When the newsletter comes through to us, it arrives in my Notes mailbox in HTML/RTF format, but none of the images or spacers show, so the e-mail looks terrible. If I preview it through a browser, however, it shows fine.

The difference? Well, when I preview through a browser, I am asked to authenticate against our proxy so the mail can fetch the images etc. from SearchDomino.com's Web server. Notes doesn't ask for this authentication, though, so I can't get out through the proxy to pick these elements of the mail up so I just get loads of picture placeholders.

Is there any way to get Notes to authenticate against our proxy so the mail shows correctly? I've checked the location doc and everything I can think of, but to no avail. I hope that you can help.
Ah, yes, the always-popular proxy authentication issue. This was a bug that was fixed in the 5.0.12 client. Moving to 5.0.12 or newer, including release 6 clients, should fix this issue. It will prompt you for your firewall ID/password to render the images.
