We have various groups in the NAB. We have found by accident that people are able to send e-mail to these groups from outside the company. How do you block people from sending e-mail from outside, and still use the group?
This is a dilemma for many people. I haven't found a good workaround as of yet. The only cure I've really found is to not have the groups on the SMTP-facing Domino server, so that it generates a delivery failure. Doing this via an agent or replication scheme can be dangerous, so proceed with caution.
On the SMTP-Inbound-Server you can use the notes.ini setting ROUTERDISABLEMAILTOGROUPS=1 so that is not possible to mail to these group names anymore.
Ah, the trusty notes.ini variables. I actually hadn't run into this one before. You learn something new every day. Obviously, this will only work if you have a dedicated Domino SMTP server. If your SMTP server is also another mail server or hub server, you cannot use this variable.
