The HTTP server in 4.5 was extremly fragile and flaky. I never knew anyone who ran it successfully for very long. I hate to give advice like this, but you should upgrade the server to R5.0.6a, and see if that helps. The mail files can stay in 4.5 format, but if your clients don't access them via a Notes client, then upgrade them to R5 format.
