Installing Notes and Domino on same XP computer
Supporting end-users on Notes R5 -- I would like to learn more about Domino server administration. I got the relevant CDs from IBM, and I would like to know whether it is possible to install the Domino server and the Notes client on the same computer (my private laptop running XP Pro)? Would it be something related to "localhost" for the identification of the Domino server and the communication with Notes client? Thanks.
You certainly can install them on your laptop to do testing, provided you have proper licensing and the like. You certainly won't get any official support, but it is by far the best way to learn. I usually give my machine a few extra fake IPs to use in this scenario, or you can tell it to listen to 127.0.0.1 and hit it that way.
