Is it possible to place a doclink to a given Notes document within a Microsoft Word document?

I have been a Domino applications programmer for about 10 years. I was recently asked the question: "Is it possible to place a doclink to a given Notes document within a Microsoft Word document?" We are using R5. Is this possible?
You could do it, using the Notes URL format. The syntax is "Notes://server/replicaID-or-Filepath.nsf/viewUNID/docUNID". For example, this link to the "threaded" view of the Notes/Domino 6 Forum on LDD (if you read that forum using the Notes client). This link format always works from inside the Notes client. For it to work in outside applications you need a registry entry. The registry entry is automatically created when installing Notes 5.0.9 or later, but you can add it manually to enable this functionality for earlier versions. See this discussion thread and also the information here.
