Locating compact on servers

We are preparing to upgrade from R4 to R5, and will remain in a mixed environment (servers on R5, clients R4) for several months.

If "compact" is not in the Notes.ini on the servers (that I can find) and it isn't a Program (except on one server, now disabled), where else could it be running?

Be sure to look for the 'STARTUPAT' task in the INI. This is the parameter that starts the compact task in the AM. You may also possibly have a program document that is starting compact.

Why are you worried about compact running? Once a server is upgraded to R5 you WANT compact to run to get all the DB's to the new ODS. Having some R5 ODS db?s in a mixed environment is fine even if the db's replicate. You just don't want to do a 'file copy' from an R5 server to an R4.5 server.
