Q

NetBackup restricts Notes database access

When I backed up Lotus Domino 5.0.8 on AIX 4.3.3 using NetBackup 5.1, I got this error message:

Failed:0x20D: This database is currently being used by someone else. In order to share a Notes database, all users must use a Domino server instead of a file server.

What is wrong here?

Domino wants to be the only program that is accessing any database on the server. It sounds like NetBackup had opened a file, then Domino tried to access it, and noticed that another process had it open. You should use backup software that is specifically designed to work with Domino. The one that I know about is Veritas Backup Exec, but there may be others also.
