We have Domino 5.0.3 installed on Win 2000 and are planning to upgrade to 5.0.5. As all the users have Manager access to their Mail files and this is causing a lot of problems with users creating agents, etc, it has been decided to give users Editor Access to their mail files( Manager access provided only to Administrators). Will this affect the Access or Rights of the user in any other aspect? Are we missing out on something which should be taken care of?
If you are going to do this, give people Designer rights. This will allow them to still run and modify their out of the office agent. Second, don't go to 5.0.5. There are huge memory leaks and mail template problems. Go to 5.0.7a or 5.0.8, if possible. There are some known issues with the templates for both versions, but they are better than 5.0.5. Also, note that you will have problems with mail/calendar delegation if you drop people to Designer or lower. There is a bug, and the fix requires the clients be at 5.0.7a or better. If your clients are lower than that, then the AdminP job to change the delegation settings will not auto-process. Your administrators have to approve the jobs.
