Understanding how to access docs in a database

I am brand new to Domino, and I am having trouble understanding how to access documents in a database. I am coming from DB2 and RPG. How do I find one document and display it in a form? How do I get data from one database and combine it with another? I am happy to read any good books or online references, just don't know where to start.

I think the Domino Designer 6 Redbook is a good place to start. Read it here.
