Use Java to generate an appointment in a Domino calendar

How can I generate an appointment in a Domino calendar created through a Java program?
At bottom, an appointment is nothing but a Notes document. If you manually create an appointment like the one you want to create, you can use the Document Properties dialog from a view to see what fields are in it, and write your Java code to create the same fields using the methods of the Document class.

If you want a more general and object-oriented solution, the Notes Java toolkit, which you can download form the Lotus Web site, contains classes for creating appointments, memos and the like.
