Users frequently receive "server not responding" messages

I am running Domino 5.07 server with a mixed 4.6 and 5 client base. Users frequently receive "server not responding" messages. I have had all of my configuration documents evaluated by my support provider who has now referred the issue to Lotus directly but to no avail. Do you have any suggestions? My user base, particularly my remote users, frequently get bounced out of replications and databases due to the connection loss. Also, my infrastructure and topology have been evaluated. I am running bare bones -- plain vanilla. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I've tried full duplex, half duplex on the NIC with no change.
This sounds like a client issue. Unfortunately, if you have had consultants and Lotus look at it, I won't be able to help you on the amount of information you have written here. Is it a problem for all clients, or just some? If someone loses connectivity, does everyone? When connectivity is lost, is the server still pingable by name? What is the hardware and OS configuration of the clients? How are they accessing the server, via RAS, VPN, broadband, etc.? All of these questions could point to your culprit. Without more information, I cannot offer you any further advice.
