Using a group for both Notes and Non-Notes Clients

I am trying to use a group for both Notes and Non-Notes Clients Release 5.0.6. When I leave the Internet address field in the group document record blank, the message fails with "User name not unique..." because we have a user in a cascaded NAB with the same first name as the group. I tried filling in the Internet address field and the message fails for Notes users only with the error "Maximum forwarding loop..." because apparently Notes V5 recognizes its own domain and tries to send internally rather than over the Internet. I'm trying to persuade either the user or the group to rename itself. Meanwhile, is there any way to create a group that will route strictly over the Internet when the Internet address is specified? And, through Notes when only the group name is specified?
Perhaps you could write an agent to look for the name but that seems like overkill. It's just a group. Change the group name.
