Centerpost named Rookie of the Year

Centerpost Corp., a messaging and electronic communications firm in Chicago, Ill., has been named Rookie of the Year by Messaging Online, a messaging industry publication. Centerpost was cited as one of the nine companies that have made the biggest impact on the messaging industry this year. The Rookie of the Year list was developed from the 140 companies in the messaging industry profiled by Messaging Online during the past five months. Centerpost was named to the list because of its "innovative application of the XML language for advanced messaging services," reported Messaging Online.

Instant messaging software released

Novell Inc., a San Jose, Calif., provider of Net services software, has launched its Novell Internet Messaging System 2.6 software for Internet service providers and application service providers. It allows ISPs and ASPs to offer secure hosted e-mail accounts that are accessible anywhere through a wireless device or a standard Web browser. It is designed to address the unique management and integration issues faced by service providers.

Knowledge Management and Solid Systems join up

Knowledge Management Software Inc., a Braintree, Mass., software developer in the high-growth knowledge management market, has signed a strategic agreement with Solid Systems Inc., an Internet infrastructure services provider based in Houston Texas. Solid Systems will integrate end-user solutions based on Knowledge Management Software's Deskartes knowledge management technology, which enables companies to maximize the value of their total digital-based knowledge stores. Deskartes allows users to pose questions against the total stored knowledge base of the enterprise and retrieves relevant information and responds in context of the original question in seconds.

New knowledge management product available

Kowledgelinx Inc., Ottawa, Canada, has released its knowledgelinx 2000, a Web-based knowledge-sharing and management software application designed to simplify the development and delivery of learning, knowledge management and performance support solutions. The product is designed for a wide range of industries, including finance, technology, government and e-business, that have large numbers of sales or service representatives who need rapid access to product knowledge or competitive intelligence.

New virus protection released for Lotus

Trend Micro Inc., a provider of anti-virus products for the Internet gateway, has released its NeaTSuite for Lotus Notes, designed to bring comprehensive desktop, server and gateway anti-virus and management tools to enterprises using the Lotus Notes messaging and collaboration platform. Notes environments remain popular among large corporations and organizations that demand a highly scalable and robust messaging and collaboration platform. Consulting and market research firm Radicati Group estimates 29% of Fortune 1000 firms have standardized on Lotus Notes as a messaging system. Domino Notes' messaging capabilities, collaborative file sharing, and server replication features provide a ripe environment for Internet and e-mail-borne viruses to replicate, spread between servers and travel through email to the client where they can infect and do damage, said Trend Micro based in Tokyo.
