Former Iris developers launch Pistolstar for Notes consulting

Two former Iris developers have launched Pistolstar Inc., a Lotus Notes consulting business and Lotus advanced business partner, for Lotus Notes and Domino. Since incorporating in mid-2001, Pistolstar has acquired clients from a wide range of industries and currently provides solutions that include business consulting and development, and specialized Notes tools that supplement their core services. Pistolstar's Thomas J. Hoey and Michael R. Brown, formerly of Iris Associates, spent their six years at Iris developing many core features of Lotus Notes, including the R5 Admin Client. Thomas P Duerr, another founder, contributed to the core document management system for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Tom brings nine years of experience as a document management expert to the Pistolstar portfolio.

Gallatin offers new e-mail marketing application

Gallatin Technologies Inc. of San Diego, Calif., has launched a new best practices e-mail marketing application for Lotus Notes. Called kNEWS Professional V2.1.1 for Lotus Notes and Domino R5, it enables business-to-business marketers to build profitable customer relationships by implementing a system for permission-based e-mail marketing. The company said kNEWS is particularly useful for companies that manufacture and sell complex, highly engineered products and incorporates the best practices of permission and relationship marketing. Businesses can build their own "opt-in" mailing lists with kNEWS. Using a standard Web browser, interested viewers can subscribe, unsubscribe, and modify their personal account profiles at anytime.

Steelpoint creates a legal content management application

Steelpoint Technologies Inc., a solutions provider of strategic Web-based content management services in Boston, is ready to release Introspect eCM. It is a legal content management application that integrates seamlessly into the leading personal information management systems, including Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes, as well as other collaborative intranet environments. Introspect eCM is available for both in-house and ASP deployment. Building on five years of development and more than 4,000 user implementations, Steelpoint has scheduled the release of Introspect eCM for the first quarter of this year. Capitalizing on their existing systems, customers can collaborate and manage all types of legal digital content regardless of data proximity, all within their familiar browser or desktop workspace, the company said.

NetASPx offers two new solutions

NetASPx, of Herndon, Va., has released the latest addition to its suite of application service provider business solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as its initial entry into the CRM space, with two new product announcements: Sales Automation and Professional Services Automation. These new solutions are built on the Lotus Notes Domino platform so the products are highly scalable and can be seamlessly integrated with netASPx's entire suite of business solutions, which include HR management, finance and accounting, messaging, collaboration and Web commerce, the company said.

AVT deisigns money-saving solution

AVT Corp, a provider of unified communications solutions in Kirkland, Wash., has released OmniBridge, a networking gateway product designed to allow the exchange of voice and fax messages between a proprietary voice messaging network and a CallXpress unified messaging system. OmniBridge frees enterprises that have multiple proprietary voice messaging systems networked together to install the open standards-based AVT CallXpress at one or more locations and still preserve seamless communication flow throughout the enterprise. OmniBridge is designed to give businesses the option of installing non-proprietary systems that integrate within the proprietary voice network but that can be administered and serviced at a fraction of the cost, the company said. Using CallXpress at just one location can result in tremendous savings in administration and telephone charges, the company said. For example, CallXpress allows a company to leverage the skills of its Microsoft or Lotus groupware managers, enabling them to administer voice, fax and e-mail at one time, from within the Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino administration interfaces.

Sigaba develops secure message and document delivery

Sigaba Corp., a secure Internet communications company in San Mateo, Calif., has launched Sigaba Email Encryption Gateway, a secure e-mail solution that integrates with existing enterprise e-mail systems to provide reliable and easy-to-use secure message and document delivery. Residing between a company's SMTP mail server and its firewall, the Sigaba Email Encryption Gateway works seamlessly with all existing e-mail applications and requires no software installations or plug-ins on corporate workstations. Implementation of the Sigaba Gateway can be done in a matter of hours, is completely transparent to end users and allows them to continue sending and receiving e-mail exactly as before. Plug-ins are currently available for most popular e-mail clients such as Outlook, Lotus Notes 5, Eudora, Hotmail and Yahoo. Additional plug-ins for Groupwise 5, Notes 4, Outlook Express 5 and Macintosh support will be available shortly.
