DECS and the AS/400

Have you been trying to set up DECS to talk back and forth with your relational data in a DB2 database on your AS/400?

Have you been trying to set up DECS to talk back and forth with your relational data in a DB2 database on your AS/400? Having trouble getting the initial data populated in your notes Database? Trying to figure out what you're doing wrong that it won?t tell you when new records are added on the DB2 end?

1. It won't work vice/versa. DECS has no ability to watch the DB2 database on the 400 to know when a new record is added up there. If you need that, you will need to buy the full LEI product (Lotus Enterprise Integration). The free product (DECS) only works in one direction.

2. It doesn't pull the initial data automatically for you. You have to run: Actions - Initialize Keys.

That is the action that goes out the first time and gets all the keys you have defined in the connection.

Note: Don't try to redo it though. If you ever need to redo it, you will need to delete all the current records (documents) first. Because, it is not particular about whether or not they already exist.
