Stop an agent without shutting down the Amgr task
This admin console command will shut down a scheduled agent that is locked in a loop or taking much longer than anticipated to run.
This admin console command is not documented in either the admin help or when issuing the console command "tell Amgr /?," but it is invaluable for shutting down a scheduled agent locked in a loop or taking much longer than anticipated to run.
To shut down an individual agent, from the admin console, type:
tell amgr cancel "db name" 'agent name'
Note that the database name is in double quotes and the agent name in single quotes.
Caveats: This will not stop an agent started with the "tell amgr run" command, which is a shame, nor will it stop agents initiated from a browser or third-party application. Apart from that, it's very useful.
