Update non-editable fields in browser

Update the value in a non-editable field on the browser without having to do a refresh.

When the value in an editable field changes, wouldn't it be nice to update the value in a non-editable field on the browser without having to do a refresh? This tip will only work for the browser client.

Create two fields:

Field1 - Make this an editable field and add "border: 0px" on the Style box on the HTML tab in field properties. In the onFocus event for this field, enter "document.forms[0].Field2.focus()"

Field2 - Make this an editable field. In the onChange event, enter "document.foms[0].Field1.value = someNewValue", where someNewValue can be the value of Field2, a string, etc.

Field1, even though it's editable, on the browser there's no visible input area, and using the onFocus event does not allow the user to enter the field.

With this technique, you could even give FIELD1 different attributes like font, color or even have it blink on the browser.
