View level edit warning

How to see if who is editing a document and for how long from the view level.

Add these two buttons to your form design and you can use them to warn users that someone is editing the document when they are at the view level. You can also see who is doing the editing and how long they have been editing it from the time stamp, in case they forget to save, etc. This is not bomb-proof and it does not actually stop anyone else editing the document, but is easier than trying some of the record locking tips I have seen. This has been working well in my designs for the last year. Note it relies on the Field Subject being shown at view level, so you can change this if you need to.

Button 1 - Sign Out Document
When:= @Text(@Day(@Now))
+ " " + @Word("January,February,March,
October,November,December" ; ",";
@Month(@Now)) + " " + @Text(@Year
(@Now)) +"  at "+@Text(@Time(@Now));

FIELD Temp:=Subject;
@Command([EditInsertText];" --
Do not amend this record, "+@Name
([CN];@UserName)+ " is editing the
document  from "+When);

Button 2 - Return Doc and Save

FIELD Subject:=Temp;
